Squad Company 2211 along with Battalion 22 responded to the Inspira Hospital of Woodbury on N Broad Street for an alarm system. Battalion 22 arrived on scene and reported smoke on the 4th floor. Crews investigated and found a heavy concentration of smoke and odor of a Class A material Fire. The assignment was upgraded to a building fire at which time additional companies from West Deptford, Deptford and National Park responded to help investigate the source of the smoke.
Crews found an active fire in the roof HVAC unit, which was the cause of the smoke on the 4th floor. There was a large fire in the enclosed unit, which was quickly extinguished with a 1 3/4″ hand line from the roof stand pipe.
Once the fire was extinguished, the smoke was evacuated and the alarm was reset and held.
