On Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 0528 hours members of Mantua Township Fire District were dispatched to 24 Hill Street for a reported vehicle fire. Chief 2201 arrived quickly and found that a VW Bug was fully involved in fire and had extended into the dwelling. At that time, the assignment was upgraded to an all hands Dwelling fire.
Squad Company 2211 arrived first due, and was ordered to drop a line from the hydrant on Hill Street and Tonkin Street. Squad Company 2211 stretched a single 1 3/4″ hand line to quickly extinguish the active fire. Engine Company 2212 arrived second due and checked for extension in the dwelling. Once the fire was brought under control, crews determined that there was minor extension into the dwelling and crews overhauled the effected area. The fire was then turned over to the Mantua Township Fire Marshal’s Office for investigation. The scene remains under investigation at this time. Photos by Tasforcephoto.
