On Monday, March 9th, your Mantua Firefighters were dispatched to Ceres Park for a reported injured biker located within the park on a bike trail. Crews utilized both ERV22-1 and ERV22-2 in attempts to locate the patient. Crews met with the original caller who pointed crews to the location of the patient. While crews from ERV22-1 were navigating the thick brush and different terrain, crews were given the exact location of the injured patient by a employee from Pitman Golf Course. ERV22-2 responded to the updated location and prepared for a rescue. The initial rescuers were met with a 100’ slope and utilized a 2-1 rope rescue system and stokes basket to remove the patient from the wooded area. Once the patient was removed from the wooded area, he was then transported by utility truck 2219 to awaiting EMS personnel in the parking lot of the Pitman Golf Course. Thank you for the assistance from Mantua Police Department NJ and Pitman Golf Course for the use of golf carts to transport equipment and personnel.
