On the afternoon of April 30, 2020, your Mantua Firefighters were requested to respond to the Borough of Clayton to cover the Borough, as well as, the surrounding districts while they operated at a two alarm house fire.
While at the cover, Rescue Engine 2211 was then requested to respond into Harrison Township for another two alarm house fire. Rescue Engine 2211 arrived and was ordered to assist crews in opening up the dwelling. Once the company was released from the Harrison Township Fire, Rescue Engine 2211 responded back into Mantua for a large brush fire.
The fast moving brush fire was quickly extinguished limiting damage to the entire area. At the same time as the brush fire, Brush Truck 2215 handled multiple wires and trees down throughout town, while Tender 2214 was covering the southern park of Gloucester County as part of the Gloucester County Regional Taskforce 5.
These incidents were exasperated due to high winds and dry weather in the area. Luckily none of the fires caused any injuries and were stopped from spreading due to the high winds. Pictured below are both the Harrison fire, as well as, the Clayton Fire.
