On Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 1844 hours members of the Mantua Township Fire District were dispatched to the area of 14 Creek Lane for a marine rescue assignment. FF 2210 arrived on scene and confirmed a male stuck in the muddy marsh approximately 150 yards into the middle of the Mantua Creek. Marine 22 responded to the rear of a residence on Linden Avenue and went underway with two members.
Crews from Squads 2211 and 2218 located the male and maintained contact and sight of the male until the marine unit was able to access the male. Upon gaining access, the male was forcefully removed from the muddy marsh and secured on Marine 22 for transport back to shore. The male was safely transported back to shore and turned over to Gloucester County EMS for evaluation. The juvenile male, refused medical attention after being evaluated for hypothermia. No further action was taken, and all units cleared without incident.
