On Tuesday, January 2, 2018 members of the Mantua Township Fire District were able to utilize the pond at 111 Golf Club Road thanks to the Generosity of Robert Layton of BHR Contracting. Crews honed skills on ice rescue, and operating in the treacherous conditions. At a mere 11 degrees Fahrenheit each member donned the Dry suit and practiced extricating a victim trapped in the ice.
The Mantua Township Fire District would like to remind the residents of Mantua Township to not trust the ice no matter the temperature. If an animal is trapped in the water do not attempt to rescue the animal yourself, call the fire department and we can assist. Do not put yourself at risk, especially in these frigid temperatures. The Mantua Township Fire District is staffed with qualified personnel 24 hours 7 days a week and are always there to help.
We would like to again extend our sincerest thanks to Rob from BHR Contracting, for his continuous support of the Mantua Township Fire District and all facets of the community.
