The Mantua Township Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for the enforcement of the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code in all commercial, industrial, and multi-family dwelling occupancies within the township. This division of the Mantua Township Fire Department is also responsible for all fire prevention education and the investigation of all reported fires and explosions that occur within Mantua Township.
Currently the Fire Marshal’s Office if staffed by one full-time career firefighter/fire official. The Fire Marshal also responds to all emergency assignments that the Mantua Township Fire Department is dispatched to, during his hours of duty. For all investigations and complaints, the Fire Marshal is “on call” 24 hours a day, and will respond to assignments after hours if needed.
The Fire Marshal’s position is staffed by Nicholas Lamana (a Mantua Township resident) who was hired by the newly formed Board of Fire Commissioners, which was established in 2007.
Nicholas has been involved in the fire service in Gloucester County for over 12 years. He joined the Community Volunteer Fire Company of Deptford Fire Department when he was 16 years old as a junior firefighter. At the age of 21, he became a career firefighter for the Deptford Fire Department where he was employed for 7 years. During that time he received his certifications and experience in fire investigation and fire code enforcement.
