On Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 0819 hours members of the Mantua Township Fire District were dispatched to the area of Breakneck Road and Barnsboro Road for a reported Motor Vehicle Crash with entrapment. Squad Company 2218, Engine Company 2212 and Brush 2215 responded immediately with a total crew of 15 personnel. Squad Company 2218 and Chief 2201 arrived simultaneously and found a vehicle fifteen foot down an embankment with one male still entrapped.
Squad Company 2218 immediately went into service with stabilization as well as cutters and spreaders to remove the passenger side door and extricate the seriously injured male. Crew from Brush 2215 removed trees and debris that surrounded the vehicle, while Engine Company 2212 stood by with a suppression line. Once the male was safely extricated from the vehicle and carried up the steep embankment, he was turned over to Gloucester County EMS for transport to Cooper Trauma Center.
