On Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2316 hours members of Mantua Township Fire District and Pitman Fire Company No. 1 were dispatched to 195 Linden Avenue for a reported dwelling fire. Captain 2202 arrived on scene and reported an chimney fire, which had extended to the interior and exterior walls of the dwelling. Squad Company 2211 stretched a line to the exterior and one to the interior of the dwelling where they were forced to open up walls surrounding the chimney to extinguish the active fire.
Crew from Quint 2816 laddered the roof and deployed chimney extinguishing bags, as well as, opened up the exterior wall surrounding the chimney. Engine Company 1033 was special called and stood by for water supply while crews battled the active fire. The fire was quickly brought under control and crews performed salvage and overhaul techniques to limit the damage to the dwelling. Once the fire was brought under control and residence was ventilated, the scene was turned over to FM 22 for investigation. The fire remains under investigation by the Mantua Township Fire Marshal’s Office.
