Sunday, November 9, 2014 – On Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 2016 hours members of the Mantua Township Fire District and Pitman Fire Company No. 1 were dispatched to the rear of 67 W. Monroe Avenue for a reported house fire. Prior to response, the assignment was quickly upgraded to a working fire due to Gloucester County Communications receiving numerous calls reporting a Mobile Home well involved.
Chief 2201 arrived on scene and confirmed the reports amending the address to 70 Lincoln Avenue. Engine Company 2213 and 2212 responded quickly with a total staffing of 8 personnel. Engine Company 2212 arrived first due and laid into the scene from Lincoln Avenue and Bridgeton Pike. Crew from Engine Company 2212 quickly deployed the Deck Gun and a single 1 3/4″ hand line to protect the exposure on Division “D.” The bulk of the fire was quickly knocked down via an exterior attack due to the fire load and structural competency of the dwelling.
Once the fire was knocked down, crews operated on scene for approximately two hours hitting hot spots and assisting FM 22 with his investigation. At this time the fire remains under investigation by the Mantua Township Fire Marshal’s Office and Gloucester County Fire Marshal’s Office. Crews operated on scene safely with no fire fighter injuries to report.
