On Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 1620 hours members of the Mantua Township Fire District were dispatched to 519 Lafayette Avenue in the City of Woodbury for a reported working dwelling fire. Squad Company 2218 as well as Chief 2201 responded immediately with a total crew of seven personnel. Squad Company 2218 arrived as the fourth due company in the city and were ordered to assist with performing a search on the second floor of the dwelling as well as assist Ladder 516’s crew with extinguishment.
Chief 501 and Quint 516 arrived on scene to find a 2 1/2 story multiple family duplex with heavy fire showing from the B/C division. Quint 516 stretched two 1 3/4″ landlines to the first and second floor of the dwelling to extinguish all active fire. While on scene District 22’s crew, operated in the main floors of fire assisting members from Woodbury, Thorofare, Wenonah and Deptford with locating the seat of the fire, extinguishment and overhaul of the dwelling. Secondary searches of the property were negative. Crews operated on scene for approximately two hours until released by Command, Chief 501.
