The members of the Mantua Township Fire District are a group of trained, skilled, and compassionate members using the best available equipment to neutralize or reverse any situation. In 2016 members responded to 639 incidents within the Township of Mantua and neighboring mutual aide communities. The members responded without hesitation to every single incident reported and have not missed a call since 2007. The members of the Mantua Township Fire District take great pride in their accomplishment of a perfect response record and 2016 added to that record.
Throughout the year we saw the completion of the Union Avenue station re-build from the June 23, 2015 storm, which debilitated operations. We also hired two new full time employees to increase staffing and reliability to the residents of Mantua Township. Thanks to the support of the township residents we also were able to successfully maintain our current operating budget to provide the funding for the best available training and equipment to our members. Each child within the township was afforded a fire prevention seminar through our relationship with the public and private school systems and Fire Marshal Lamana. Members also assisted in numerous community events, including the township Dino Dig at the Inversand Mining site as well as 9/11 ceremony, community day and tree lighting ceremonies held at Chestnut Branch Park.
As we move forward into 2017, I ask for any willing and able resident to come out and assist our department by providing a service to this great community. Volunteers are always needed and applications can be downloaded off this website, via Facebook, or picked up at our Union Avenue Station seven days a week. I hope that everyone had a prosperous 2016 and look forward to a safe and enjoyable 2017.
